Responsibilities

  • Develop individual procurement strategies which meet the needs of the business

  • Responsible for developing IT procurement strategy for IT related projects

  • Leverage best value on existing contracts

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to influence procurement choice, aiming to drive costs down and quality and service up

  • Negotiate value for money commercial arrangements for the category

  • Managing large scale tenders

  • Advise on commercial approach such as when to compete and when to sole source

  • Ensure the organisations interests are reflected in commercial deals

  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise related to the category and buying needs of the business

  • Ensure business compliance to existing Procurement processes

  • Develop an environment of continuous improvement where the team can proactively challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvement

The successful candidate:

  • Ideally MCIPS or CIPS qualified

  • Good commercial, category, procurement senior and/or management experience, Working for large, complex corporate organisations ideally related to IT/ Telecommunications Procurement.

  • Category experience in Cloud services SAAS/ PAAS/ IAAS/ Hostings, Software licencing enterprise / small packages, Telecommunication Network and network hardware and End User Hardware is preferred

  • Experience of running RFI/ RFP direct negotiation either individually or as part of a team

  • Experience of drafting and advising on tender documentation, specifications and pricing schedules to support the tender process.

  • Knowledge and experience of recent developments in procurement best practice including e-procurement and e-sourcing.

  • Ability to develop and implement category management and strategic sourcing.

  • Understanding of contract law

  • Proven track record in influencing and managing procurement improvements and delivering savings

  • Excellent analytical expertise, identifying strategic options and providing recommendations

  • Exceptional negotiation skills

  • Strong stakeholder management experience - ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within an organisation

  • Exceptional commercial and financial acumen

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and IT systems knowledge and experience
