Job Overview

As a Phase I Operations Manager you will lead a team of clinical research technicians, project coordinators and associate managers through Phase I clinical research studies while ensuring safe and effective operations through appropriate planning and resourcing.   

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate department activities to ensure that studies are carried out according to protocol, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and applicable guidelines and regulations and within budget
  • Accountable for clinical delivery (subject recruitment, site management, and/or data integrity)
  • Monitor clinical progress against contract and prepare/present project proactively to all stakeholders internally and externally as required
  • Assess assigned studies for potential risks and perform risk mitigation
  • Create and implement SOPs and training programs with an emphasis on quality and safety
  • Lead study and/or staff team meetings
  • Leadership responsibilities include appraising performance and guiding professional development, addressing employee relations issues, and resolving problems
  • Oversee preceptor & training program for new and junior staff
  • Design, implement, monitor, and assess the need for training programs to maintain staff skill proficiency
  • Participate in quality and process improvement efforts to support the culture towards a high-performing and efficient team

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of line management experience OR at least 5 years of clinical research experience OR equivalent combination of experience
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical trials and Good Clinical Practices (GCP)
  • Effective project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and clients
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including good command of the English language
  • Good skill in using MS Windows and Office applications such as Outlook and Word.
