As part of Scientific Services, in the Global Database Studies (GloDaSt) team we offer exposure to observational research projects with global reach. In your role, you are expected to contribute in leading the biostatistics team in challenging studies in various therapeutic areas using large-scale patient-level databases and innovative study designs to answer diverse research questions.

The primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Serve as the primary contact in biostatistics and provide scientific and methodological guidance to global clients, our biostatistics team, and other functional groups to ensure studies meet project objectives and regulatory requirements, as applicable
  • Provide senior biostatistical oversight and serve as biostatistics lead in projects ensuring scientific integrity in the application of statistical methodology to observational database studies
  • Manage teams of biostatisticians, as a line manager, including contributing to resourcing  
  • Lead or contribute to the training and mentorship of biostatisticians
  • Contribute to business development activities and proposal writing
  • Lead operational efficiencies of workflows, including writing or critical review of internal guidance documents (e.g., internal processes, best practices, SOPs and quality management documents)
  • Serve as main author of statistical analysis plans and contribute to feasibility study reports, protocols, study reports, and scientific publications

Our ideal candidate would have the following:

  • MSc or PhD (or an equivalent degree) in biostatistics, statistics, applied mathematics or a closely related scientific discipline
  • 7+ years post graduate work experience (+5 years if PhD) in biostatistics, epidemiology or related public health area relevant to observational health research. Preferable in a client-facing role, e.g. in a consultancy, contract research organization (CRO), pharmaceutical/biotech company, or healthcare services
  • 2+ years experience of people management with strong people management skills.
  • Strong skills in real-world evidence and in designing and executing prospective or retrospective epidemiological studies, including database analyses
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong experience of conducting observational database studies with R and/or SAS
  • Familiarity with most complex statistical methods that apply to observational database studies.
  • Evidence of previous experience utilizing global large-scale patient-level healthcare databases (such as the Nordic registries, CPRD, THIN, PHARMO, etc.)
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts (including presentations) in scientific conferences
  • Commitment to working collaboratively and effectively with people of other disciplines
  • Excellent time management skills, leading multiple projects with competing timelines, with the ability to effectively prioritize

Preferred Qualities:

  • Experience and knowledge of developments in real-world evidence within pharmaceutical industry
  • Clinical experience and understanding of drug therapies
